There are some sins that are just obviously wrong to you right? Some sins you can not help but judge. For example; murder, pedophilia and if you’re me; sex before marriage, adultery, etc. And if you know me, you know I struggle with judging people. What I mean is I can be so unbelievably quick to judge. The irony is that I believe that God has given me a heart to understand people. But early on in my life I always did the opposite, judge with such a ‘holier than thou’ attitude. This attitude definitely affected both my friendships and my sisterhood.
As I was sitting at church last Sunday, God reminded me of His attitude towards ALL sin. He hates it! And His grace is available to EVERYONE.
And He said to me “if you hated your own sin with the same disgust and judgement that you place on others’ sins, you would 1) understand them better 2) drop your sins quicker.” That just because someone sins differently than you do doesn’t mean they’re closer to hell than you are.
So if you’re someone who believes sexual immorality is an abomination but you thrive in your lies and your disobedience of God, please join me in re examining our character. It should feel as much an abomination to participate in gossip, to avoid lending a hand to your neighbor, to neglect your alone time with God, etc.
