What is it about fall?

During the FALL, trees are exposed to much less sunlight than in the summer months. The lack of sunlight causes a decrease in chlorophyll which makes the trees unable to produce their vivid green colors. So instead, the plant’s hidden red, yellow and orange hues (which were there all along) are left to shine.

This speaks volumes about the beauty and importance of our insecurities and vulnerabilities.

For about 90% of the people I know, FALL is our favorite season! Plants stop producing food, leaves change color, animals are forced to migrate or prepare for hibernation, humans are led into the dreaded coldness of winter. Yet, fall is still our favorite!

There is just an undeniable beauty about FALL! It comes by every year as an expected gift on Christmas morning with its own curated palette of emotions, feelings and experiences.

Cozyness, Comfort, Candles, Warm baths, Hot Cocoa, Blankets, Crisp morning air, Apples, Pumpkins…

It’s so wild and beautiful that nature possesses hidden gems about who we are. This is certainly true from our interaction with FALL. There is no better constant expression of what it’s like to love every part of ourselves, especially the parts we’re not proud of. Those parts that need it the most. It is our insecurities and our vulnerabilities that bear the greatest lessons about who we are. Understanding them and loving them is usually the key that unlocks our ultimate expression of self-love.

It’s no coincidence then, that His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Cor. 12:9).
